A lifelong resident of Northeast Texas, Rob Barnwell is a graduate of Queen City High School. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Henderson State University, as well as a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration with Principal Certification from Texas A&M-Commerce, and Superintendent Certification from Texas A&M University-Texarkana.
Barnwell began his career in education in 1989 at New Boston ISD. After nine years of teaching and coaching at NBISD, Barnwell moved into an administrative role at McLeod ISD, where he served as baseball coach and Secondary Assistant Principal his first year. After serving as McLeod ISD’s Secondary Principal for five more years, Barnwell was named the Superintendent at Queen City ISD in 2004, where he served for nine years. Barnwell became Jefferson ISD’s Superintendent in August of 2013. The 2018-19 school year marks the beginning of his 30th year in public education.
