Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program

CTE programs offer a sequence of courses that provides students with coherent and rigorous content. CTE content is aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in current or emerging professions.

Business & Industry

Encompassing a wide range of pathways and college & career choices, the Business & Industry Endorsement prepares students for the workplace, a technical education or a four-year university depending on the program and interest of the student. Several pathways lead to industry certification that supplement the students’ learning as well as possibly providing them with employment opportunities.

Automotive Collision Technology

The Automotive pathway teaches students how to repair and refinish automobiles.

 

Business Management

The Business Management pathway teaches CTE concentrators how to plan, direct, and coordinate the administrative services and operations of an organization. Through this pathway, students will learn the skills necessary to formulate policies, manage daily operations, and allocate the use of materials and human resources. This pathway will also introduce students to mathematical modeling tools and organizational evaluation methods.

Culinary Arts

The Culinary Arts pathway introduces students to occupations and educational opportunities related to the planning, directing, or coordinating activities of a food and beverage organization or department. This pathway also explores opportunities involved in directing and participating in the preparation and cooking of food.

 

Environmental & Natural Resources

The Environmental/ Natural Resources & Plant Science pathway explores the occupations and educational opportunities associated with the research, design, and planning of engineering or technical duties in the prevention and control of environmental hazards. This pathway also focuses on the science, research, and business of plants and other living organisms. It teaches students how to apply biology and life science to real-world life processes of plants and vegetation.

Marketing & Sales

The Marketing and Sales pathway teaches CTE concentrators how to collect information to determine potential sales of a product or service and/or create a marketing campaign to market or distribute goods and services. Through this pathway, students will learn the skills necessary to understand and apply data on customer demographics, preferences, needs, and buying habits. 

 

Welding

The Welding pathway focuses on the development and use of automatic and computer-controlled machines, tools, and robots that perform work on metal or plastic. Students will learn how to modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain individual machines, and how to use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment

Public Services

The Public Services Endorsement prepares students for occupations in healthcare, public safety, and other service-oriented jobs. Many of the pathways here offer opportunities to obtain work-force ready certifications and licensures or to continue to post-secondary institutions.

Exercise Science & Wellness

This pathway introduces students to the fields that assist patients with maintaining physical, mental, and emotional health. Students will research diet and exercise needed to maintain a healthy, balanced lifestyle and learn more about and practice techniques to help patients recovery injury, illness, and disease.

 

Healthcare Theraputics (Certified Nurses’ Aide,

Patient Care Technician, Dental Assistant, Medical Assistant, Pharmacology)

This pathway introduces students to occupations and educational opportunities related to diagnosing and treating acute, episodic, or chronic illness independently or as part of a healthcare team. This pathway also includes an introduction to the opportunities associated with providing treatment and counsel to patients as well as rehabilitative programs that help build or restore daily living skills to persons with disabilities or developmental delays.

Teaching & Training

The Teaching and Training pathway prepares students for careers related to teaching, instruction, and creation of instructional and enrichment materials. It familiarizes them with the processes for developing curriculum, coordinating educational content, and coaching groups and individuals.
